Tonight I took Jason to work and then I need to stop at the bank to get some cash. We are doing an envelop system with our finances. Our finances are very tight.Ive been kind of consumed with our LACK lately, but I do know and see how God is providing beyond the green paper.
So Jason and I are NOW FORMALLY the OUTREACH LEADERS of NEWLIFE BIBLE FELLOWSHIP. We will work to plan and participate in LOCAL AND FOREIGN missions and outreach.
AMAZING. That is why I am alive. To serve. To serve along side my husband. To serve others in Jesus's love
Jason is starting GOSPEL RESCUE MISSION also as a maintenance technician. He is stepping out in faith to do something he loves for the LORD and to shine a light.
I am so proud of HIM. Tomorrow he celebrates his 34th birthday. I have got to spend the last 16 birthdays with him. AWESOME..
Back to my story...................
While I was leaving the bank I saw an older man sitting on a bucket in the middle island of LA CHOLLA and INA. He was holding a sign that says "VOTE UNION"
I felt very compelled to give him money. I was the HOLY SPIRIT because we honestly dont have any spare money at all. But I knew I needed to be obedient. I trust you LORD to provide for us. If I am not generous how will the LORD be generous to us.
I remember when we first got married Jason and I scrounged around the house and found 9 dollars and that was used so I could at least take him out to BK for his birthday. Then there was a time when I looked through the whole house and only could find 75 cents. I needed diapers desperately for Baby A.
But God has always seen us through.....
I took a bit to get back to the man. I pulled over and walked up to him as he was loading his rough sign into a ALBERTSONS shopping cart. He was wearing a ratty Hawaiian shirt with most the buttons gone and in his shopping cart was a very large bag of old bagels, a plastic tarp, and a very torn childrens twin comforter.
He introduced himself as Marvin and I shook his hand and said my name is Krissy. I asked him if he was okay. Can I help you with anything. Where are you headed tonight.
He told me he was going to check out the city bench....then said no...he cant so that because they can arrest me.....so I will probably be turning around and using this tarp (he pointed to it in the cart) that a old church buddy gave me.....and sleeping on the ground.
We talked for a bit. I could smell the alcohol on his breath as he spoke. He however did not speak intoxicated. He told me proudly about his 7 kids one whom flies a jet, he told me about living in Chicago, and family in Michigan. He told me about feeding the critters these bagels.....
I told him I would pray for him tonight...he said Ill pray for you....its always nice to know someone is thinking about you and praying for you.........................
AS we walk into this new ministry......being given opportunities to lend a hand....provide means for others...minister the gospel in tangible ways.......I pray we remember that homelessness has a name.....His name is Marvin, Mauricio, Carrie.......and so many others.......
Lord God answer the cries of our hearts to HELP people truly
As we seek you give us specific ways to touch people with your love .....help aid in transformation of their lives......let the HOPE in them rise.....and let them know you and your love.......
God I love you and for this journey...It is a bit scary because we are giving up some major securities like a solid annual salary and such...but we know that you are in charge....and we want to be IN MINISTRY....fulltime.
DIRECT us
LORD BLESS MARVIN tonight...as he lays on the hard ground and gazes into the heavens...may he think of you....help me and others to provide for him as we can...and let him be drawn to you....by others acknowleding him and making sure he knows he is loved.
Krissy
